Marsh marigold. Caltha palustris. Buttercup Family - Also called Cowslips

Found in swamps, wet ditches. Flowers April - June.

Medicinal Uses: - Root tea induces sweating. Leaf tea is a diuretic and laxative. Tea mixd with maple syrup was a popular cough syrup with early American colonists. Sniffing the brused stems induces sneezing.

Edible Uses: - Pick flower buds, preferably before they blossom. Boil like spinach, some people boil it twice, changing the water. Or simply steam them, then stir fry with bacon and maybe potatoe cubes.
